Appointment FAQ

Traditional Chinese Medicine requires the gathering of detailed medical history involving all aspects of your pet's health and daily life. From the Western perspective, these questions appear bizarre or of little relevance, asking about your pet’s personality, temperature preferences, behavior, eating habits, level of exercise, what you feed, how much you feed, past and recent illnesses. The answers you provide, combined with the physical exam findings helps Dr. Craig diagnose your pet's Eastern pattern diagnosis, create the acupuncture point prescription and choose the best herbal formulation.

FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT

I do not schedule appointments until AFTER the medical questionnaire is completed. Reviewing the medical history before the appointment allows me more time to focus on the treatment of your pet at the initial appointment. TWO options are available. Click HERE to complete the questionnaire online. Please be patient, it may take a minute or two to download. Click HERE to download a pdf form. Email the completed form to info@dvmneedles.com.
I prefer to have all pertinent medical records BEFORE your pet's appointment. These records should include previous veterinary visits, diagnostic test reports, radiographs (x-rays), radiologist reports, and all other test results within the past year. With our current computer technologies, many of the clinics are capable of emailing copies of records and x-rays. My email is info@dvmneedles.com. If it is not possible to get these medical records to me before the appointment, bring them with you to the appointment. I may not be able to review your pet's records thoroughly at the initial appointment.
Acupuncture involves the placement of small little needles in various areas of the body. You or someone you designate will be required to hold and restrain your pet during the examination and treatment process. For the few patients who do not tolerate the needle placement or cannot sit still long enough for the needles to remain on the body, we offer laser acupuncture. However, it will still be necessary to have someone hold and restrain the pet during the treatment.
I will contact you to schedule the appointment after I review the medical history and (hopefully) your pet's previous medical records.
All Las Cruces appointments are seen on Tuesdays as house call appointments. Please prepare an area in your home that will be quiet, free from distractions, and separated from the other pets in the household. For the small dogs and cats, access to a table would be ideal. For the larger patients, an unobstructed area on the floor will work.
I see my El Paso patients by appointment at the Animal Emergency Center of El Paso on 1220 Airway Blvd on Wednesdays. Clients who live in CERTAIN areas on the WEST SIDE El Paso can choose to have house call appointments for an additional fee of $10.00 on Thursdays.
